Bhagwan

Supreme god of the Bhil people (in north-west Central India). Bhagwan was originally alone, but then he created the other gods and made them bearers of light. He is known by other names such as Parmesar (‘the highest’) and Andate (‘Giver of corn’).

He is also judge of the dead.

The word Bhagwan has come to be synonymous with the word god.

The origins of Bhagwan are still a mystery. The first mention of his name appears in the Brahman which was written approximately 3,300 years ago.
