Libation

RULER: various gods and goddesses TYPE: liquid MAGICKAL FORM: wine, juice

The pouring off of liquid from a chalice into the ground is called a libation. Witches libate at the end of their rituals and it is common to say a prayer of thanks while libating. In a sense, it is like a toast: the glass is held high and praise is given to a particular god or goddess who has done something good for the libator. It is also common to ask or wish for something as a libation is poured.
